Southern Medical Day Care Centre (SMDCC) is a day-only private hospital established in 1998. For your treatment date, please dress in casual, comfortable clothes unless otherwise instructed. Most treatments will be administered in a recliner treatment chair. On occasion, you may be required to lie on a bed for a period of time. If your condition does not enable you to sit in a chair for any length of time, please contact the nursing staff prior to your admission to ensure availability of a bed. Your length of stay will be dependent on the treatment you will be receiving, so please discuss this with a member of the staff. Patients receiving chemotherapy will be given a chemotherapy flow chart. This will document the drugs you have been given, follow up appointments, instructions for medications and required blood tests. This is important information for your local doctor or for any other doctor you may attend during the course of your treatment. Please remember to bring your flow chart to SMDCC each visit. You will also be given an after-hours emergency contact number for the Oncology Nurse Consultant.
